The matter related to illegal mining in the area of Lidhorahat Ghat Badtua in district Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. The bench of Justice Sheo Kumar Singh and Expert Member Satyawan Singh Garbyal of the NGT directed that there must be an institutional framework and enforcement mechanism to prevent illegal and excess quarrying. Further, the state should ensure that mining takes place without any adverse impact on the environment.

A plant producing cheese from goat milk will start production at Khajuraho in Chhattarpur district from first week of September. More than 1,65,000 vials of spurious oxytocin were seized from medical stores in Sagar district's Bina town in the first week of this month, police said here today.

Oxytocin - misused for enlarging watermelon, gourd, brinjal, cucumber etc besides enhancing milk production in animals - is available in the market for Rs 15 per vial while the fake ones were being sold for 50 paise.

Madhya Pradesh State Biodiversity Board is planning to establish biodiversity parks six districts of the State, with the aim for generating awareness among the public for significance and conservation of biodiversity. Proposals are also awaited for other districts of the State for establishing similar parks.
