July 6: Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee has chosen infrastructure development in rural and urban areas to provide economic stimulus to the economy and to usher in inclusive growth.

BHUBANESWAR: The 2009-10 general budget presented by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has some significant direct policy interventions for the marginal sections of society that are going to serve the interests of the State in a pronounced way.

New Delhi: In a move to improve public transport in rural areas and to help revive sick State Transport Undertakings (STUs) such as in Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh, the road transport and highways ministry has mooted a proposal to provide them 40,000 low floor buses. The proposal has been sent to Planning Commission and finance ministry for approval.

July 1: The Delhi government on Wednesday said it has informed the Centre about its intention to purchase 625 low-floor buses under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The buses were part of a total fleet of 1,500 sanctioned for Delhi under the JNNURM.
