Ranchi, Sept. 8: Chief executive officer (CEO) of Abhijeet Group Arun Gupta today assured Governor K. Sankaranarayanan that the power plant being set up by the company in Latehar would begin production by 2011.

The Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR) is playing an important role in helping the country promote energy security among South Asian countries.

Thirty-one MoUs for power plants have been inked between the state and investors in the past six years, but not a single megawatt (MW) of electricity could be added to this power-crunch state.

In a rare exercise, the state has decided to conduct energy audit of seven government buildings.

The aim is to find out how much energy is being wasted by these buildings. Ways to conserve energy will also be suggested.

Most of the plants are located in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Maharashtra

NEW DELHI: The Union Coal Ministry on Friday cracked the whip on power companies by cancelling coal linkages of 25 captive power plants (CPPs). These plants with a combined capacity of 1,292 MW required 5.844 million tonnes of coal annually.
