Imphal: The Manipur government is determined to go ahead with the proposed 1,500-MW Tipaimukh hydel power project that has been opposed by environmental groups and opposition parties in neighbouring Bangladesh.

The Northeastern region had witnessed a 30 per cent shortfall in power production in the current 2009-10 financial year owing to shortfall of monsoon.

This was stated at the 8th technical coordination committee (TCC) meeting here on Monday by Ashok Pal of North Eastern Regional Load Dispatch Centre (NERLDC), Shillong.

An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale rocked Assam, north-eastern states and neighbouring Burma on Tuesday causing minor damages to properties and cracks in apartments and other concrete structures.
