With no additional canal water, 15 new tubewells approved

Residents of Rassenheri village near Mohali have approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court for quashing the notifications issued under Section 4 and 6 of the Land Acquisition Act for acquiring land for a dumping ground in proximity to their houses. The proposed location of the dumping ground in Sector 102, Mohali, has apparently been shifted from Sector 74 after people had protested.

To prevent wastage of water this summer, the civic authorities in Chandigarh and Mohali have imposed a ban on washing cars and courtyards and watering lawns in the morning hours (5.30 to 9 am).

The ban would come into effect from April 1 and continue till June 30.
