Affirming the trend of migration of people from villages to big cities and towns, the provisional figures of Census 2011 reveal that for the first time, India has added more people in urban centres than in rural areas over a decade.

Between 2001 and 2011, the number of people living in urban areas increased from 286 million to 377 million, a rise of 91 million.

DIMAPUR: HIV prevalence rate in Nagaland has come down to 0.78 per cent since December 2010 from a prevalence rate of 1.27 per cent on October 2010 - a drop of 0.49 per cent. A major concern, however, is that sexual route of transmission has gone up to 89 per cent in the State although HIV infection through injecting drug had dropped to 3.5 per cent.

Kohima : Incessant medium to heavy downpour throughout Nagaland has caused landslides in all the districts and damaged roads, cultivated lands and other property over a month.

Kohima: Continuous rainfall hit life in Nagaland today as andslides were reported from across the state though traffic remained largely unaffected. Official sources said landslides were continuing on National Highways 29, 61 and 155.
