A division bench comprising Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal and Justice A K Mittal of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday issued notices to Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL); the state transport commissioner and the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Pardeep Kumar and Ashok Kumar, residents of Patiala.

MADURAI: A public interest litigation petition has been filed in the Madras High Court Bench here to restrain the Union Civil Aviation Ministry, Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Tiruchi Collector from acquiring agricultural lands in Keelakurichi village for expanding the international airport.

Hyderabad, Dec. 4: The Obulapuram Mining Company, owned by Mr Gali Janardhan Reddy, tourism minister of Karnataka, and Anantapur Mining Corporation, owned by his wife on Friday approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court against the letters written by the ministry of environment and forests, Government of India.

The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a ban on immersion of idols in rivers.
The petitioner had pointed out the pollution caused in river Yamuna due to idol immersion. However, the court was of the view that a ban involved the question of right to religious practice.

LUCKNOW: Several teams constituted by the UP Pollution Control Board inspected 44 tanneries in Kanpur district on Wednesday. The teams were constituted by the UPPCB as a follow-up to an order passed by the Allahabad High Court early in November.
