The Caritas Pakistan would provide solar energy to 300 families in Jati and Sujawal towns to rid them of energy crisis, said the executive secretary of the organisation`s Hyderabad chapter, Mr Shams Shamoon.

He said in a statement issued here on Wednesday that Caritas Germany was cooperating in this project, which would be completed within six months.

GANDHINAGAR: After successfully completing the e-gram project of providing basic IT connectivity to all the district, taluka and village panchayats, the Gujarat government is now all set to launch a comprehensive e-panchayat project in order to create a complete database and monitor all the activities taken up in the rural areas.

The Central Government is planning to set up five new power transmission lines with private sector participation at an estimated cost of Rs.6,485 crore (worth over $1.40 billion). These planned transmission lines would help power evacuation from the proposed coastal generation projects in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

From the year 2013, power will be supplied to domestic and irrigation consumers in the rural areas from separate feeders under the State Government's Ambitious Feeder Separation Scheme. As per the wishes of the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, power will be supplied for 24-hours to rural domestic consumers and eight hours to irrigation consumers.
