Hyderabad: A division bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday dismissed a writ petition against the environment clearance granted to East Coast Energy for setting up a 2,640-mw thermal power plant at Kakarpalli village in Srikakulam district.

Hyderabad/Sompeta: Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) on Tuesday said it is confident of reviving the controversial thermal power plant in Sompeta, Srikakulam, despite the National Environmental Appellate Authority (NEAA) quashing the clearance granted to the project.

Hyderabad: The National Environmental Appellate Authority (NEAA) on Thursday quashed the environmental clearance given to Nagarjuna Construction Company for setting up of a thermal power plant at Sompet, Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh. Further course of action is expected to be decided on the receipt of the certified copy of the judgement from the authorities.

Srikakulam was chosen for many mega projects because government land was abundantly available and the plants would have close proximity to railway main line and Vizag ports.
