Sept. 29: Hyderabad and other Telangana districts are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on Wednesday following the formation of a well-marked low pressure over west central Bay of Bengal.

Hyderbad, Sept. 22: A division bench comprising Justice Goda Raghuram and Justice Ramesh Ranganathan of Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday stayed the construction of a thermal power plant at Bhavanapadu of Santhabommali mandal in Srikakulam district for three weeks.

Srikakulam, Sept. 21: A team from the World Health Organisation assisted by local doctors, visited the Uddanam area in the district where several people have died due to mysterious kidney diseases.

Sept. 16: A 12-member team representing the environment protection committee of Sompeta would meet the UPA chairperson, Mrs Sonia Gandhi and the President, Mrs Pratibha Patil, on September 20 to seek their intervention to stop setting up of thermal power plant near Sompeta.

While dengue cases are on rise in urban areas, including Hyderabad, malaria is spreading in rural areas.
Many malaria cases have been reported from Ramachodavaram, East Godavari, Kadapa, Paderu in Visakhaptnam, Srikakau-
lam, Vizianagaram Badrac-
halam in Khammmam and Adilabad.

BHUBANESWAR: Even as the north coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh - Srikakulam and Vizianagaram - are being ravaged by floods because of the swelling Nagavali and Bansadhara rivers, a fresh warning of heavy rainfall in the two districts has sent the people and officials into a tizzy.

Visakhapatnam: The deep depression over west central Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards and intensified into a cyclonic storm, Bijli, and lay over west central Bay of Bengal at 5.30 pm, about 470 km south east of Visakhapatnam, reports our correspondent.
