The matter related to felling of trees in Shillong to make way for the Shillong-Dawki Road Project. The Shillong-Dawki Road Project under Japanese funding is divided in five packages.

The PIL filed by Kaustav Paul pertains to felling of trees in Shillong as part of package I of the entire project.

The High Court directed that all shops/establishments/local taxis/auto-rickshaws/maxi cabs and buses should display prominently at a conspicuous place, a sign "vaccinated' in the event all employees and staff of the concerned shop/establishment are vaccinated.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Agnes Kharshing Vs State of Meghalaya dated 17/03/2021. Grievance in the application was against the illegal mining of coal by cement companies at East Jaintia Hills district, Meghalaya. Case set out in the application was that the cement plants in question were undertaking mining causing pollution to Lukha and Lunar rivers resulting in death of fishes.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Threat to life arising out of coal mining in south garo hills district Vs State of Meghalaya & Others dated 27/07/2020. The quantum of coal unscientifically mined was mentioned to be 23,25,663.54 MT.

Judgement of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of State of Meghalaya Vs All Dimasa Students Union & Others dated 03/07/2019 regarding unregulated coal mining in the tribal areas of Meghalaya, which has resulted in not only loss of lives but damage to the environment of the area.
