On receiving a complaint that water body was being destroyed by dumping of waste and sewage and encroachment, NGT vide order, September 10, 2018 directed the Urban Development Department of Telangana and the Telangana State Pollution Control Board to look into the matter.

The Joint Committee has requested the NGT to issue directions to the concerned departments for submitting a time bound action plan to comply with the recommendations of the committee to improve the water quality of the Hussain Sagar lake.

The industries in the catchment areas are bulk drug and pharmaceutical units.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Mohammed Nayeem Pasha & Others Vs The State of Telangana & Others dated 05/04/2019 regarding pollution of river Musi at Hyderabad (Telangana). The river is contaminated due to disposal of industrial and domestic sewage effluents into it.
