AHMEDABAD: In Satellite, the occupants of a bungalow got some surprise visitors on Wednesday evening, soon after the downpour and the sudden dip in temperatures. A pair of star turtles seemed to have crawled out of their hiding place after the rain.
The downpour also caused a road mishap of sorts in Sardarnagar. A turtle was run over by a vehicle.

THE drastic decline in turtle nesting sites in the Gulf of Mannar (GoM) due to various factors and complete lack of awareness among fishermen, has taken a serious turn as presently, even sporadic nesting of turtles could not be spotted, according to marine biologists.
The turtle nesting sites were earlier spotted in Manapa
Matara Chief Magistrate Udesh Ranatunga, on Monday (20), fined two suspects Rs. 100,000, when they were produced before him for killing a turtle and selling its eggs.
The Matara police told the Magistrate that the suspects, who earned a living as fishermen, had been killing turtles for meat.
Tirupati, Aug 10: A poacher, who suspected his brother of informing the police about hunting of star turtles, shot him dead at Shikaripalem village near Punganur on Tuesday night.
On Monday the police and forest personnel had seized 200 star turtles worth Rs 10 lakh from the village and had taken one Brahmaiah into custody.
