VILLUPURAM: Over 100 families in Ozhinthiapattu in Vanur taluk were displaced on Wednesday night owing to sudden floods caused by a breach in the lake bund.

The walls of about a dozen huts collapsed soon after the inundation and a vast stretch of paddy fields got submerged.

Hence, the people had to spend the night in the open, braving incessant rain.
