Anaerobic digestion of municipal solid waste was carried out in the laboratory at room temperature to assess the bio-energy production from municipal solid waste (MSW) with high total solids content. The total biogas production from the municipal garbage was found to be 3.2 L in 120 days.

Noble metals and Cu mainly are recycled in treating waste printed circuit boards (PCBs), and a large amount of nonmetallic materials in PCBs are disposed of by combustion or landfill, which may cause secondary pollution and resource-wasting. In this study, a kind of nonmetallic plate (NMP) has been produced by nonmetallic materials of pulverized waste PCBs. The NMP is produced by a self-made hot-press former through adding resin paste as a bonding agent.

Aasha Khosa / New Delhi ACC uses cow dung, old shampoo, soap, paint sludge and even municipal waste in five plants. Cow dung, old shampoo, soap, paint sludge and even municipal waste are fed into furnaces that burn lime into cement at the plants of India's leading cement manufacturer, ACC. ACC ,which recently won the Golden Peacock award set up by the UK-based World Environment Foundation, for eco-innovation has procured more than 200,000 tonnes of waste including some hazardous ones to make cement.

WOW ! That is what you would probably say when someone pays you for your garbage. It is also a new system

If everything goes well, the Model Colony ward of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) could become a 'model' before the other municipal wards for making use of the discarded garbage for a 'powerful' cause. The municipal body is planning to generate electricity by setting up a biogas plant that will use the garbage within the Model Colony ward as its fuel input and run the streetlights in the ward with the electricity generated.

The biogas yield of rice straw during anaerobic digestion can be substantially increased through solid-state sodium hydroxide (NaOH) pretreatment. This study was conducted to explore the mechanisms of biogas yield enhancement.

Village panchayats in Goa which have been struggling to tackle the garbage menace, now have a better alternative to take care of the wet garbage. The department of Science, Technology & Environment has identified an equipment

GreenGoa will organise a presentation and workshop on reusing and recycling waste on May 5, at Mineral Foundation, Velho building, Panjim, at 5:30pm. Tania Anselmo, a young environmentalist from Portugal who reuses waste creating useful items like jewellery, bags, purses etc in Lisbon will teach participants simple reulitization techniques of commonly found waste in Goa.

A typical product on a supermarket shelf will have had about one hundred times its own volume of waste created before it reaches the consumer, according to Forum for the Future, an environmental charity. Meeting the demand for food, water, timber and fuel has caused a terrifying spike in the amount of waste produced around the world. The UK's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has estimated that over half of the country's household waste comes from retail and almost 30 per cent of landfill can be traced back to the five leading supermarket chains.

Bangladesh has begun producing environmentally friendly yarn from cotton waste to save foreign currency on imports, a local company said on Wednesday. "We have set up the factory to produce cotton yarn by using waste from ready-made garment products to export to foreign markets," said Anwar-Ul-Alam Chowdhury Parvez, managing director of Evitex Polycot Limited (EPL). EPL is 49 percent stake owned by Swiss firm Texta A B. Its plant, 60 km (38 miles) north of Dhaka city, will produce up to 5,000 tonnes of yarn a year, he told Reuters.
