HYDERABAD: The health authorities on Saturday confirmed that 16 patients, who were admitted to the Fever and the Gandhi Hospitals here between May 5 and 6, have tested positive for cholera. Out of the 16 confirmed, 12 were from the Fever Hospital while the rest were admitted in the Gandhi hospital.

May 7: Nearly 100 fresh cases, mostly children suffering from vomiting and diarrhoea, were reported at various hospitals in the city on Thursday while some of the patients were refusing to leave the hospital despite being given the discharge slip. The principal secretary for health, Mr L.V. Subramaniam said:

The temperature of Dhaka yesterday was 34 degree celsius. The temperature of last week on the same day was 36.5 degree celsius.

SURAT: To prevent outbreak of water-borne diseases like malaria, dengue and chikungunya in the city, Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) launched an awareness campaign for denizens from Tuesday.

Training in integrated water and sanitation planning will be organised in Gaibandha Municipality under a joint project of the Government, UNICEF and DFID, officials said.

The project titled Sanitation, Hygiene Education and Water Supply in Bangladesh (SHEWAB) began in the municipality in July, 2008.
