The state environment department has carried out a survey to find out the adverse effects of mobile towers on human health in the state.

In a rare case, and probably for the first time in the state, a municipal corporation admitted that radiations from mobile towers cause health hazards, especially among pregnant women and children.

Expressing concern over the effects of radiation from mobile towers installed in residential areas, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has held that it is the duty of the government and mobile companies to inform residents about the harmful effects.

Wireless Planning and Coordination Wing of Department of Telecommunications (DoT) issues siting clearance for installation of mobile towers for each and every site from the point of view of interference with other wireless users, aviation hazards and obstruction to any other existing microwave links.

The radio frequency sources in India are the transmitting towers such as AM, FM radio towers, TV towers, Cell phone towers, etc. emit radio frequency/ microwave radiation continuously.

Following the action taken by the Noida Authority against unauthorised cellphone towers in the area, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has decided that no such towers in the Capital will be sealed for the time being.

The document describes the test procedure for the measurement of electromagnetic fields from telecom base stations in GSM, CDMA, W-CDMA, 3 G and Wi-Max etc environment. The main aim of the measurement is to confirm the compliance of base station installation as per ICNIRP guidelines limits.

In supercession of all earlier orders on the subject mentioned above, permission for installation of temporary structures on roof-tops of various premises for Cellular/Basic Mobile Phone Services shall be accorded on payment of one time permission charges of Rs.
