This paper assesses growing home, workplace, and public charging needs in the United States through 2030, incorporating local market trends, evolving charging technology and behavior, household characteristics, and home charging availability.

This paper is designed to aid cities in accelerating the electrification of ride-hailing fleets to reduce their environmental impacts; it does not assess the complex advantages and drawbacks of ride-hailing platforms more broadly.

The transition to electrified transportation is occurring across the United States at different rates due to vehicle model availability, charging infrastructure, government engagement, and other factors. The Midwest region has, so far, not been a leader in electric vehicle sales, but sales are increasing.
