Paddy is cultivated with fish rearing, is practised by the Apatani tribe of the ziro valley. The study analyses the contribution made to total and net revenue by the fish rearing component of the system. Fish cultivation contributes significantly to total and net income from agri-pisciculture.it is thus recommended that the system should be encouraged using high yielding varieties of paddy and fish.

The survey was undertaken during the period from October -2012 to September -2013 in the Vattakkayal, Sakthikulangara panchayath, Kollam district. The major objective of this study was to find out the biodiversity status of fishes in Vattakkayal of Kollam district, South India.

According to a World Bank Sponsored Study (State of Environment Report- U.P.) pollution levels in the Ganga are contributing 9-12% of total disease burden in Uttar Pradesh. The coliform bacteria levels are in excess of 2 lakh MPN as against the national water quality standard of 5000. The report estimated total health damage on account of water pollution in up to is around 6.4 million daily (Disability Adjusted Life Year).

Solvent extracts of five Indian spices viz., Turmeric, Cinnamon, Cumin, Ginger and Garlic were examined for their antioxidant activity and antimicrobial activity. The antioxidant capacity of the spice extracts were found in descending order: Cumin>Garlic>Cinnamon>Turmeric>Ginger by DPPH method, Garlic>Cumin>Turmeric>Ginger>Cinnamon by FRAP method and Turmeric>Cinnamon>Garlic>Cumin>Ginger by TPC method.

The present study investigates and analyses the behavior of a concrete gravity dam during the strong ground horizontal motions due to an earthquake with CADAM. The model in thesis is the structure of Hirakud gravity dam. Hirakud dam across river Mahanadi in eastern India is a composite structure of earth, concrete and masonry.

In general, in each society there are socio-cultural norms and prescriptions regarding the knowledge, attitude, preference, behaviour of people, etc. In Hindu culture, menstruation (a reproductive health element) is considered religiously impure and ceremonially unclean. There are many socio-cultural taboos being practiced by females during menstruation. Apart from validity, these taboos help the women maintain menstrual hygiene as a prerequisite to avoid reproductive health problems.
