Forest sector governance is not always easy to define and is even harder to measure. This report, commissioned by LFP, has tried to quantify transparency in Nepal’s forest sector in a way that follows an internationally recognised system as developed by Global Witness.

The integration of climate change adaptation and adaptive capacity issues within development processes is now a central issue for development policy and practice. Climate Change adaptation is a dynamic field of activity, with lessons emerging all the time. Community based adaptation plan is prepared at local level by involving multi-stakeholder team including the vulnerable communities.

Whist being a global issue, climate change is a major environmental and social challenge for Nepal. Throughout the country the effects are already being felt. Rural communities are seeing changes in rainfall patterns. The monsoon tends to begin later, the rainfall is more irregular and flash floods are more frequent. The winter rains are reduced and some years fail altogether.
