Six waste processing units to produce compressed gas

The BBMP, which had earlier identified new landfill sites to dispose of waste, has dumped the project. Instead, it is now focusing on installing new waste-processing plants across the City. The Palike, in October 2012, had identified six new landfill sites for disposal of waste at Sunkadakatte, Challaghatta, Bagalur, Kallabalu, Yalachaguppe and Hindalawadi, following a High Court order.

Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a cement company to use the plastic waste generated across the state, as fuel for its manufacturing plant.

Vasavdatta Cement, a company with its plant in Karnataka, would be procuring the plastic waste collected by the state agencies and village panchayats from Goa.

Lucknow: The high court on Friday asked the central and state governments to consider converting all public transport vehicles in Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra into CNG-operated ones to control the ever-increasing levels of air pollution. BHOPAL: A unique technique to extract oil from plastic waste promises to revolutionize the marketplace, according to Indore-based entrepreneur Manoj Sharma. The extracted oil can be used to power various industrial generators.
