DADELDHURA, May 27: Unabated extraction of resin from forests has continued in the hill districts of far-western region sidestepping the rule set by government.

Baitadi, the hilly district in the far west region, has been declared the first fully immunised district.

Three houses were buried in a landslide that occurred Sunday evening at Gokuleshwor VDC-1 Bangabagar of Baitadi district, police said.

DIPAYAL: Coliform, a cholera virus, was detected in drinking water supplied to districts in remote far-west.

Thirty-five families have been displaced by a landslide at Malladehi VDC in the district.

Deforestation has gone unchecked at a forest spreading over 270 hectares of land in Nyali VDC in the district, locals said.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $23.5 million grant from the Strategic Climate Fund for a project that will ensure water supply to about 45,000 households.
