Bhopal, Sept 6: Minister of State for Food Processing and Horticulture Shri Karan Singh Verma has said that farmers' development can be ensured only through correct pricing for their produce. He was addressing a daylong workshop on the subject 'Food and Security' here today. Shri Verma informed that food parks will be established at six places in Madhya Pradesh.

This study was conducted to assess the safety with special reference to acute toxicity, if any of six samples (Excavated waste, Lime sludge, Naphthol tar (or Naphthol tar), Reactor residue, Semi processed pesticide and Sevin tar) collected from `Stored Toxic Wastes at the former UCIL plant site at Bhopal'.

The Municipal Corporation commissioner Manish Singh have passed special instructed to officials to ensure cleanliness drive in state capital. He instructed zonal officers to distribute beats to assistant health officers and heath inspectors. He said that it is a responsibility of zonal officers to inspect the cleanliness arrangements in state capital.

Like all previous years this year too the Bhopal Municipal Corporation failed to remove the garbage dumps and the rubble piled up on the footpaths and roadsides and desilt and clean the rainwater drains before the onset of the monsoons. Predictably, the unexpectedly heavy early monsoon showers have thrown the city out of gear. Once again the hapless citizens find themselves wading through ankle-deep/ knee-deep waters on the flooded streets and roads. It is a state of deluge in the low-lying areas.

The state government has simplified the procedure of granting permission for cutting trees to get timber wood in villages adjoining government forests. Now tehsildars have been authorised to give permission to the villagers. The maximum limit of cutting of up to two cubic meters in a year has also been abolished.

Van vihar is not only the exotic tourism spot of capital but also the state as well. The forest department continuously creates new items to allure tourists. There are so many species of snakes are already living here. But now the department has procured other aqua-species of snakes like cobra, daihal, sunfreela etc. These species will become a special attraction for tourists, as they are of different colours and shades. Besides this the department tried to allure tourists by adding different animals to Van Vihar. Here the area of water will be proliferated.

The State Government on June 27 removed 40 metric ton of toxic waste from the abandoned Union Carbide Plant premises located Bhopal Railway Station and have been disposed of in Peethampur jointly by Madhya Pradesh Waste Management Project and Ramco Enviro Engineers India. "About 40 metric ton chemical waste and clay (lime sludge) was transported from Union Carbide Plant premises on June 27 to Pithampur. The work was executed under the eyes of experts and officials", said JT Ekka, Director, Gas Disaster & Relief Department on Tuesday.

The power generation capacity in the state has risen by 2937 megawatts during the last four years. With an extension unit of Amarkantak thermal power plant becoming critical soon, 210 MW more is going to be added to this capacity. Giving utmost importance to power, the state government has provided MP State Electricity Board and its companies Rs 939 crore as capital investment.
