BHUBANESWAR: The State Government is in a quandary whether to finalise the BPL list as per the 2002 survey or to go for a fresh census.

THE Revenue Department will invite letter of consent from firms having experience of resettlement and rehabilitation of displaced families of at least two projects.

BHUBANESWAR: Orissa, which is poised for a massive growth in industrial, mining and power sectors will emit around 300 million tonnes of green houses gases (GHG), mostly carbon di-oxide (CO2) within the next five years.

BHUBANESWAR: The Influenza A (H1N1) diagnostic laboratory of the Regional Medical Research Centre here has become fully operational with samples from the State being sent to it for testing.

The facility has given its first H1N1 confirmation report with the sample of Dr Anup Kumar Burnwal of Rourkela testing positive.

BHUBANESWAR: Industries Minister Raghunath Mohanty has demanded that a wing of the Central Food Technology Research Institute (CFTRI) should be set up here for dissemination of technology information among the prospective entrepreneurs.

BHUBANESWAR: The revised BPL list -- based on the 2002 household survey -- will be out on January 31, 2010, after more than 12 years. The last survey was conducted in 1997.

Village-wise draft list of the surveyed households will be displayed in gram panchayat offices from November 15 to 30.

BHUBANESWAR: The aluminium major NALCO today signed a memorandum of understanding with the State Government for establishment of an aluminium park at Angul.

The proposed park will be a joint venture of the NALCO and the Orissa Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and it will be close to the smelter plant. The estimated project cost of the aluminium park is Rs 75 crore.
