Nomadic herders who move their cattle ceaselessly across some of the harshest environments in the world in search of grazing land are vital for Africa

KENDRAPARA: Suspected Sara (crypasomaisis) and anthrax diseases have claimed at least 35 head of cattle and goats in last two weeks in Kendrapara district.

The diseases were first detected during first week of January. Only after the diseases spread to many villages, the authorities woke up and announced a contingency plan.

The Governor of Haryana is pleased to notify the Livestock Breeding Policy to promote breeding and development of livestock especially in cattle and buffaloes in the state as under. This policy will be subject to revision after every 20 years or earlier as deemed necessary by Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department, Haryana.

The mandatory registration of cattle will go long way in proper implementation and monitoring of various schemes to boost the animal husbandry sector.

Reports said that the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department of Mizoram conducted an inspection on the meat sold in Aizawl during this Christmas season and found out that out of 500 cows tested around 100 of the animals suffered from Food and Mouth disease.
