The government has invited the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to help develop the Colombo City Mass Rapid Transit Project.

The DMRC which had prepared a feasibility report for the project would be soon sending a team of senior officials led by Managing Director E. Sreedharan to Sri Lanka for further discussions.

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has decided to take legal action against those who dispose of garbage along the streets of Colombo from June 15.

In a statement, CMC said they would also take legal action against people who allow the creation of environments conducive for the breeding of dengue mosquitoes, so as to control the rapid spread of the disease.
