TURA: The GSU, North Western Zone, has expressed its concern over the rate of deforestation through rampant felling of trees in Garo Hills by saw mill owners exporting wood to other states.

Tura: After facing intense pressure from the people and various NGOs, political parties and stake holders of Garo Hills, the State Government has cleared the decks for sanctioning of three new pumps and maintainence of old ones with immediate effect to bring to a close the ongoing water crisis in Tura.

SHILLONG:The 13th Finance Commission has awarded 23 public buses to the State which would be introduced in four districts and a Civil Sub-Division.

Official sources on Thursday informed that out of the 23 public buses, ten buses will be stationed in Tura, five in Jowai, four in Williamnagar and two each in Baghmara and Resubelpara.
