Indore, Dec 17: In an attempt to curb vehicular pollution in Indore, the RTO here has mooted an idea to run CNG auto rickshaws in the city by replacing old, decrepit autos which are 10 years old. Informing this, an official in the RTO, said that as per the plan, the RTO will cancel licenses of all those auto rickshaws which are more than 10 years old.
Indore has become the first city in the state to have been declared as a Town of Exports Excellence. An announcement to this effect was made by Union commerce and industry minister, Kamalanth here on Tuesday. Showering the Union government's largesse on Indore, Kamalnath said that declaration of Indore as a town of exports excellence, will boost up export activities in the region.
The cabinet on Tuesday approved the action plans presented by subsequent companies of Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board for 11th Five-Year Plan 2007-12. These include division of feeders and scheme regarding agricultural pumps.
The action plan of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company, Jabalpur is to the tune of Rs 5200 crore. Out of this, provision of Rs 2137 crore 31 lakh would be made under the limit of 11th Five-Year Plan.
Fresh communal violence erupted here Friday leading to imposition of curfew in entire Indore city, a day after four persons were killed in clashes during the BJP-VHP sponsored bandh against revocation of land to Amarnath shrine board. The fresh incidents of violence occurred in various areas - Jinsi, Juna Risala, Champa Bagh, Bombay Bazar and Hathipala where rioters clashed with the police and the Rapid Action Force personnel by pelting stones on them.
The state government has ayed proposals for setting up three pharmaceutical units with an investment of Rs 275 crore in special economic zones at Indore and Gwalior. The Glenmark group would establish two units - Rs 175 cr - while Teva API India group would set up one over 29 hectares at Gwalior. The latter unit's products would be exported only and the group has three such pharma units in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, sources said today.
