Three consecutive swine flu deaths in the last three days, starting from January 16, have rocked the industrial capital of the State, which is already reeling under swine flu scare for the last few months.

Despite tall claims by the Health Department that it had checked the spread of the swine flu, 11 persons have died so far in Madhya Pradesh in past 25 days. Nine of them in Indore alone.

A total of 60 cities of the country are proposed to be developed as Solar Cities during the 11th plan period. The objective is minimum 10 per cent reduction in projected total demand of conventional energy. At least one city in each State to a maximum of five cities in a State will be supported by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.

The state government has allotted Rs 2.80 crore to six district collectors for assisting victims of natural calamity. Out of this maximum amount, Rs 1.72 crore has been allotted to Raisen district collector. The other districts are Indore, Shivpuri, Chhattarpur, Sidhi and Shajapur.

At least two persons were killed and the condition of six others was critical following the leakage of a poisonous gas at a pharmaceutical factory in Indore on Sunday.

An action plan is being chalked out in the state for flood relief and rescue at the district level. If the flood situation arises in any district during the ensuing monsoon, the administration of the concerning district can act as per the action plan speedily and effectively. As many as 36 districts of the State have been identified as flood-prone.

The second instalment to the tune of Rs 50 lakh has been released to parched Indore. On April 8 last, the first instalment of Rs 50 lakh was released. In this way, Rs 1 crore has been made available to Indore collector for ensuring drinking water arrangements in the district during the summer.

The foremost priority should be to liberate Kshipra river from encroachments at its source of origin. It is a matter of concern that the river is vanishing within 13 kms from its emanating source, let alone the long distance. The govt maps have been changed and fields and roads have replaced the river in the map.
