BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh will house world's largest 750 Mega Watts(MW) solar power station in Rewa district, state's energy minister Rajendra Shukla said today.

BHOPAL: Country's biggest solar power plant to generate 130 MW electricity would be set up in Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh. The ambitious project cleared by departmental advisory committee of the State department New and Renewable Energy, according to press release here on Tuesday.

1,000 acre land has been earmarked for the plant in Neemuch district. Renewable energy accounts for just five per cent in total energy generation in Madhya Pradesh. At present, work is underway for 311 MW solar power projects in the state.

A meeting cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan endorsed new solar energy policy-2012 of the state.

The Farmers’ Welfare & Agriculture Development Department has set a target to distribute soil health cards to all the farmers of Madhya Pradesh.

State Cabinet here on Wednesday took several important decisions. It decided to constitute Madhya Pradesh Water Corporation (MPWC) for implementation of group piped water schemes in rural area.

The project, which will cost about $225 million, will be set up in about 18 months Welspun Group, the country's largest solar power developer, has won a 125 MW solar photovoltaic project in Madhya Pradesh, a top company official said today.

"We bid Rs 8.05 per unit to bag the 125 megawatts (MW) out of 200 MW that was auctioned by the Madhya Pradesh government," Welspun Energy Ltd Managing Director Vineet Mittal said here.
