JAIPUR: The empowered committee constituted by the state government for immediate clearance of debris in public areas and draining of flood water in affected areas of the city has sanctioned Rs 52 crore to JDA and Rs 48 crore to JMC. The amount has been sanctioned for cleaning of drains, repairing of potholes on roads and for purchase of new equipment.

The funds released by the empowered committee to civic authorities are part of drainage-repair package announced by chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday. Out of Rs 52 crore, JDA has been asked to spend Rs 15 crore on cleaning of sewage lines, Rs 18 crore for repairing of roads and Rs 30 crore to initiate construction under master drainage plan.

JAIPUR: With number of vehicles increasing manifold and parking areas becoming a major problem, the state government is planning to draw a parking policy for the city.

The policy will be drawn taking cue from the model parking policy of the Union government. In this regard, a meeting chaired by principal secretary (urban development and housing) G S Sandhu was held to discuss on the issues proposed for parking policies. Officials of traffic department, Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) were also present in the meeting.

Jaipur: Jaipurites dreaming of owning a house in the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) proposed schemes may have to wait longer with several projects hitting a roadblock. Land acquisition is plaguing as many as six colonies proposed by the authority. Lack of planning is another reason for the delay in starting the projects.

JAIPUR: For optimum utilization of available land in Model 4 buildings of the upcoming affordable housing schemes, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is planning to construct G+7 high rises. On Thursday, JDA officials gave directions to prepare an expression on interest (EOI) in this regard.In Model 4 affordable housing schemes, the developer will construct the buildings on government land. The JDA has identified 14 such government land in a consolidated area of the city for constructions under this model.

JAIPUR: The first spell of monsoon shower brought a huge relief from the blistering summer heat, but along with it came a sordid tale of woes, particularly water-logging and garbage strewn all over.

Most places saw water-logging on the roads with garbage meant to be picked up, clogging the drains as the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) disposal system in the city is in a sorry state. Trash thrown outside the bins just got washed away in the streets. It seems 51 health inspectors, 208 jemadars, 6,330 street sweepers and 1,392 temporary sweepers on the rolls of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) have failed on their job.

JAIPUR: The Supreme Court on Friday allowed preservation and restoration work of Jaipur's Man Sagar Lake by the private firm to which the 17th century monument Jal Mahal has been leased out.

In the last hearing of the matter on May 25, the court had allowed the firm to carry out preservation and restoration work of just the Jal Mahal that stands in the lake. During hearing of the litigation disputing the monument's lease agreements on Friday, a bench comprising Justices Deepak Verma and Gyan Sudha Mishra observed that the lake was part of the monument.

JAIPUR: To curb parking menace in the city, the civic bodies have geared up to develop parking lots in the city. Acting on the directions of the empowered committee that was constituted to develop Pink City as a world-class city, the civic bodies have identified areas to develop in the city.

On Tuesday, in a meeting chaired by Kuldeep Ranka the Jaipur development commissioner (JMC), directions were given to the officials to issue work orders for developing parking near Jal Mahal and Gandhi Nagar station areas.
