A recent survey has found that the famous Kaziranga National Park in Assam has the highest tiger density in the world, but conservationists have warned that it could be an indicator of habitat destruction and suggested remedial measures.

JORHAT, April 30: Breaking all previous records, the Kaziranga National Park (KNP), has recorded the highest number of visitors to the park in the current 2009-10 season. According to the information recieved from the office of the District Forest Officer (DFO), Kaziranga the National Park has recorded as many as 112844 number of tourist comprising 105264 Indian and 5780 foreign visitors.

GUWAHATI, April 29

A joint study carried out by Aaranyak, a society for biodiversity conservation in Northeast India, and the Assam Forest Department, has shown that Kaziranga National Park has the highest density of wild tigers in the world. The report is the result of a study carried out during January-March 2009.
