Pune, September 23 After the Congress-NCP led government was forced to seek public votes on the Maha-Mumbai Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Raigad, the Shiv Sena has decided to demand similar referendum on all the proposed SEZ through out the state.

THE vast expanse of paddy fields lining the horizon in 22 villages of Pentehsil in Raigad wore a deserted look on Sunday as an overwhelming majority of villagers poured into the streets to be a part of the landmark referendum on the Maha mumbai Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

In the context of the Singur situation relating to land ownership, the view that in addition to accelerated agricultural progress there is a need to create greater avenues for employment in the industrial and services sectors gains support.
