Judgement of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of M.C. Mehta Versus Union of India & Others dated 13/07/2017 regarding Ganga river pollution. NGT notes that GAP I and GAP II has failed to yield the required results and on the contrary there has been tremendous increase in the industrial and sewage pollution load in river Ganga and its tributaries.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of M/s. Leeza Leathers Vs. Central Pollution Control Board & Others dated 19/05/2017 regarding discharge of effluents by Leeza Leathers into river Ganga, Uttar Pradesh. NGT allows the unit to operate its processing activity subject to it getting grant of consent from Pollution Control Board and obtain permission from the Central Ground Water Authority, in the event they are extracting ground water.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 02/05/2017 regarding ban on sales and use of furnace oil and pet-coke in Delhi NCR.

EPCA report submitted before the Supreme Court states that the state governments of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan have no objection if a ban is placed on the use of Furnace Oil and Pet Coke like in Delhi. It is also pointed out SO2, Nox and Sox standards have not been fixed for almost 35 industries.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of M.C. Mehta Vs. Union of India & Ors. dated 28/04/2017 regarding industries in Unnao polluting river Ganga. NGT directs that all these industries should be put to a joint inspection where their pollution control systems be verified and effluent should be analysed and it should be ensured that no system for injecting the trade effluent into the groundwater are existing in any area of any industry.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of M/s. Swan Tanning Industries Vs. Central Pollution Control Board & Others dated 11/01/2017 regarding pollution caused by M/s. Swan Tanning Industries, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The joint inspection report dated 11th January, 2017 filed before NGT states that the unit does not have authorization for dealing with the hazardous waste, under the relevant rule. It was also found that the effluent discharged by the unit violated the prescribed parameters of Chromium.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of M.C. Mehta Vs. Union of India & Others dated 22/11/2016 regarding tannery industries in Jajmau, Kanpur District, Uttar Pradesh. Counsel appearing for Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board has informed NGT that there are 400 tannery industries at Jajmau out of which 128 are lying closed as on 16th November, 2016 either under the orders of the Court, Tribunal or Pollution Control Board.
