Order of the M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 18/07/2018 regarding sealing of illegal structures in Delhi.

An affidavit filed on behalf of the Union of India by Anil Kumar, Under Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India states that no instructions have been given by the Land and Development Officer to any Municipal Corporation to go slow or to stop the sealing process. Supreme Court directs the Municipal Corporations to continue with the sealing process, wherever necessary.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Bhupesh Baghel Vs Anil Agarwal dated 17/07/2018 regarding non-forestry activities and enroachment by Balco in Bastar, Chhattisgarh.

The allegation in this contempt petition is that large areas have been used for non-forest purposes by M/s. Balco in spite of the order passed by this Court on 29.02.2008.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 16/07/2018 regarding air pollution control in Delhi NCR.

The Supreme Cout Order touched upon three key issues:

1. Ban on import of pet coke

2. Natural gas to be made available to power plants in NCR

3. EPCA's views on the request by MOEF&CC to allow the use of pet coke for gasification and in steel industry

4. Comprehensive Plan for Air Pollution Control

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 11/07/2018 regarding over-exploitation of Delhi ground water. The report submitted by the Central Ground Water Board in May 2018 indicates that there is over-exploitation of ground water in large parts of Delhi and a major part of Delhi is over-exploited and falling in semi-critical category. In such areas, the water levels are showing persistent declining trend during the last two decades.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 11/07/2018 regarding preservation of the Taj Mahal from environmental degradation.

Supreme Court asks for a detailed list of industries within the Taj Trapezium Zone from the Chairman of the Taj Trapezium Zone Authority. The Court notes that no pro-active steps are being taken to preserve the Taj Mahal and meetings are being held without any concrete decisions. We propose to hear the matter on day-to-day basis before Taj Mahal is further damaged.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 24/05/2018 regarding amendments to the Master Plan for Delhi.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 15/05/2018. Attorney General has placed before the Apex Court the Action Plan for monitoring of all construction activities in Delhi and fixing of responsibility in case of violations of Master Plan, unified building Bye-laws and other illegal construction activities.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 09/05/2018. The prayer in the application is for permission to cut 234 trees to complete the project of laying of conduit pipe line to enable the Ganga water to reach Agra for the purpose of supply of drinking water to Agra city in the coming summer months.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 08/05/2018 regarding unauthorised constructions in Delhi and its effect on groundwater. Central Ground Water Board has filed a report on the status of ground water which shows that in areas categorized as over exploited (as per Ground Water Resources Estimation of 2013) from May 200 to May 2017 water level declined rate varied from 0.5 m/year to more than 2 m/year at places.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 08/05/2018 regarding sealing drive in Delhi against unauthorised constructions. Report No. 118 of the Monitoring Committee was placed before the Court and it deals with alleged unauthorised constructions in Khan Market as well as in Sanjay Market. It has also been pointed out that the seals of the premises sealed on 2nd August, 2007 in Sanjay Market have since been tampered with and huge multi storeyed buildings have come up on all the sealed premises.
