Jammu & Kashmir has very little scope for exclusive sand mining, as sporadic sand occurs with river bed material across Jammu & Kashmir.

Compliance report by the District Magistrate, Mirzapur in Original Application No. 992/2019 in the matter of Surendra Singh Vs Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change & Others. The matter related to M/s. Jai Maa Vaishno Stone Works and others operating mining leases in tehsil Chunar, Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh which were illegally granted for 20 years in violation of judgement of the Supreme Court. The procedure for environmental clearance was wrongly diluted for exempting public consultation and EMP by wrongly treating the leases to be B-2 category projects.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Bhanwar Lal & Others Vs State of Rajasthan & Others dated 06/02/2020 regarding illegal mining around Khantipur area, Ajmer, Rajasthan. Further, illegl mining was preventing the free flow of water into the Shakti Sagar lake. This execution application has been filed with the prayer to direct the authority to comply with the directions issued by the Tribunal in original application (91/2015) and decided on February 28, 2017.
