Mumbai: At a time when the city is facing a scarcity of water, more than 400 wells with potable drinking water have been found to be filled with debris in the Andheri area alone.

Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will set up seven underground multi-level parking facilities in South Mumbai doubling vehicle capacity. Two each will be near Crawford Market (one outside the police headquarters and one near Manish Market) and Hutatma Chowk, and one each near Eros Cinema, Regal Cinema and Jehangir Art Gallery.

New Delhi: With seven confirmed cases of swine flu being reported from New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) areas, its health department has decided to start a campaign to spread awareness about precautionary measures that need to be taken.

With over 70 of the 112 swine flu cases reported till Tuesday being detected in schools, almost every student with a hint of a cough or sore throat is being screened.

MUMBAI: Here is some good news for citizens reeling under the city's acute water shortage. The central government last week cleared the remaining Rs 94.16 crore needed for three important civic projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), among them two water tunnels from Malabar Hill to Cross Maidan and another from Maroshi to Ruparel College.

The BMC launched its website, www.mumbaimonsoon.com, on Friday so that citizens can get better information on rainfall data, high tide dates and timings, waterlogged areas as well as traffic, among other things.

The civic administration has set up automated weather stations at 29 places across the city, through which rainfall data could be received every 15 minutes, officials said.
