MUMBAI: The BMC is carrying out soil testing work in the Tulsi lake area, which falls within the core zone of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP). Chandigarh: Local Bodies Minister Manoranjan Kalia has expressed concern that while urban local bodies spend a huge amount every year on garbage collection, transportation and disposal, the larger problem of the municipal solid waste management in a scientific manner remains unattended to.

The Calcutta Municipal Corporation (CMC) is set to designate 51 ponds heritage properties, thus becoming the first civic body in the country to confer the tag on water bodies.
