The government will release Rs 10,901 crore to state-run banks to enable interest subvention for short-term crop loans up to Rs 3 lakh to farmers for the current financial year. On Thursday’s cabinet meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister, decided this.

Public sector banks (PSBs) provide such a subvention to enable short-term crop loans at seven per cent interest. Also, a three per cent subvention is given to those who start repaying their loans within the first year of disbursal.

The National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) will help the Rajasthan Government revamp the half-century-old Chambal canal system which caters to the irrigation needs of the Hadauti districts of Kota, Bundi and Baran. The Hadauti region is known for its grain and cereal production including export quality Bundi rice, thanks to its comparatively better water availability.

The fund for the revamp of the canal system forms part of a total loan assistance of Rs.1,833 crore from NABARD to Rajasthan under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF-XVIII) and the NABARD Development Assistance (NIDA) in the current financial year. The other major projects include two roads -- Alwar-Behror-Narnul Road and Jaipur-Nagaur Road -- rural village roads and major district roads.

PWD had refurbished 15 shutters last year at a cost of Rs.2 cr.

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned Rs.4.27 crore for repairing damaged shutters at the barrage across the Cauvery River at Upper Anicut (Mukkombu) near Tiruchi. Last year, the Public Works Department refurbished 15 of the 41 shutters on the barrage at a cost of Rs.2 crore, also sanctioned by the NABARD. The department had sought more funds for repairing the remaining shutters at an estimated cost of Rs.4.50 crore in the second phase.

The Canolly canal and the Kallayi river will be de-silted soon with assistance from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard), District Collector K.V. Mohan Kumar said here on Tuesday.

Approval of the Shipping and Navigation Department had been obtained for deepening the Canolly canal at a cost of Rs.4.6 crore. The project envisaged deepening the 11-km stretch of the canal from Elathur to Kallai.

JAIPUR: National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) on Thursday sanctioned Rs 1355 crore for the construction of roads in rural parts of Rajasthan. The financial support is in the form of soft loans under NABARD's rural infrastructure development fund.

State government is aiming to connect all the villages with population of 250 to 500 with the tar roads. However, out of 2900 eligible villages under the scheme, NABARD will only fund for 1337 villages covering 4822 kilometers. Rest of the villages will be covered from the aid received from World Bank and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
