Seven months after two tigresses were shifted to Panna, Madhya Pradesh forest officials have finally found a suitable tiger in the Pench reserve to be translocated to Panna.

The forest officials had identified a tiger in Bandhavgarh recently but the translocation was stopped when experts warned that it could belong to the same gene pool as one of the tigresses shifted in March.

For the first time the Centre acknowledged

The Centre has issued advisories to all the 17 tiger range states to maintain an ID card, specifying the profile of the big cats. This move would help authorities to keep track of big cats movement and will assist in the tiger conservation measures. These ID's would contain specific details of each tiger in every sanctuary.

LUCKNOW: The planning related to wildlife conservation in the country might get a clear direction now, since the first national level database on wildlife crime has been compiled and completed. National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) which is the head organisation for wildlife conservation has got the crime figures compiled in collaboration with a private agency TRAFFIC-India.
