Mumbai: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) will soon be relieved of the ever growing problem of e-waste. The state government will start the first of its kind plant for scientific recycling of e-waste generated in the region.

Pune The Groundwater Surveys and Development Agency (GSDA) has some good news for the city reeling under water shortage. It has identified a total of 399 dugwells and 4,820 borewells in Pune, which can be useful in this current situation.

Pune: One person was killed and seven others, including two children, were injured following a landslide near Khandala ghat section of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in the wee hours of Monday.

The mishap took place near Adoshi tunnel, a part of Baur village ghat section, some 52 kms from Pune.

Pune With monsoon remaining elusive, as many as 75 villages and over 300 hamlets are facing severe drinking water shortage. The total number of affected population stands at 1.40 lakh. The Pune Zilla Parishad in association with district collectorate is providing water to these affected villlages through tankers.

The Maharashtra government is considering implementing a cloud seeding programme to boost rainfall this season. Though the monsoon is showing signs of revival, the state agricultural department is gearing up for the worst.

Pune If rains continue to stay away from the catchment areas, the water for Pune city will last around 20 days. The water storage in Panshet, Khadakwasla, Temghar and Warasgaon dams have dipped to a low of 0.9 TMC. Irrigation officials say such a delay in rains over dam sites and catchment areas was last observed in 1982, more than 27 years ago.

Pune As rains remain elusive in the city, the irrigation department has decided to implement 20 per cent water cut for areas in Pune Municipal Corporation limits from Sunday. However, there will be no cut in Pimpri-Chinchwad for the time being.

Pune In order to create awareness on environment issues, the district social forestry department on Wednesday started distributing 20 lakh seedlings to be planted all over the state.
