Action against those violating sound pollution norms

District Collector Biju Prabhakar has warned of strict action against those who violate sound pollution norms after obtaining licence from the police to use loudspeakers.

In an official release here on Wednesday, Mr. Prabhakar said directives to act against such persons had been issued following complaints from students preparing for examinations, critically ill persons, and the elderly who were suffering owing to uncontrolled noise pollution in their surroundings.

The complex interactions of invasive species with native ecosystems make invasion ecology an interesting and important area of research. Prosopis julifora native to south and central America was introdouced in India to meet the fuel-wood requirements of the rural poor and to restore degrated lands. Now, it has become an aggressive weed in several parts of the country and poses a serious threat to native biodiversity.

कटाई नहीं छटाई की फिर कहां गए सैकड़ों पेड़?

नोएडा के ओखला बर्ड सेंचुरी (ओबीएस) में सैकड़ों हरे पेड़ काटे गए हैं। बिना अनुमति के की गई 100 से अधिक पेड़ों की कटाई के संबंध में पर्यावरणविदों की ओर से शिकायत की गई है।

पर्यावरणविद विक्रांत तोंगड़ ने बाकायदा इसकी जांच के लिए वन एवं पर्यावरण मंत्रालय को पत्र लिखा है। संवेदनशील क्षेत्र को लेकर कोर्ट में विचाराधीन ओखला बर्ड सेंचुरी में अब पेड़ों की कटाई का मामला सामने आया है। शिकायत के मुताबिक सिंचाई विभाग की ओर से पेड़ ओबीएस के नोटिफाइड एरिया में काटे गए हैं।
