AHMEDABAD: Centre's allocation of Rs 11,842 crore in interim Budget for JNNURM projects in mission cities across country has come as a blessing in disguise for Gujarat and its four mega cities. Most of these projects in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara that had approvals, are in various stages of implementation and were clocking delays awaiting fresh releases from the state and Centre.

AHMEDABAD : Just before Lok Sabha elections, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) unveiled a Rs 285-crore sewerage network for newly-acquired areas of new west zone. Most of the works are being undertaken under JNNURM. The areas to be covered include seven major pockets in the new west zone.

NEW DELHI: Facing criticism for failing to improve the sewerage system and for not providing adequate water for consumption, the Delhi Jal Board, which is responsible for the supply of water and collection, treatment and disposal of sewage in the city, has decided to rope in consultants for preparing a master plan for water and sewerage system for 2021.

Chandigarh: The Municipal Corporation is all set to develop the open spaces in the villages and colonies of the city.

While development plans have been prepared for two villages, including Dadumajra and Maloya, the authorities believe there is not much scope for making changes in the existing infrastructure.

TAMBARAM: Six town panchayats in the Chennai Metropolitan Area of Kancheepuram district will have their underground drainage projects in place in a couple of years.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Jal Board has approved several water and sewerage schemes besides welfare measures for its employees.

To tide over the shortfall of potable water in the city, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will fall back on sewage water - after being purified, of course - for non-drinking purposes like gardening, car-washing and fire fighting.

Navi Mumbai: Three sewage treatment plants, constructed in Navi Mumbai with sophisticated Austrian technology, have started converting the entire city

The recent floods in the city did what officials could not do in last two years. In a significant development, the Centre has approved Rs 365 crore and Rs 212 crore for improving the drainage and sewerage system of the state capital, respectively. At present, only 40 per cent of the city has a proper drainage and sewerage system, leaving the rest of the areas heavily prone to flooding.
