Detailed project report: pilot emissions trading schemes in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu

Piloting an ETS will enable the Ministry of Environment & Forests to cap total pollution emissions in select areas and increase regulatory transparency and accountability. The pilot emissions trading scheme will be rolled out as a randomized-controlled trial to enable rigorous evaluation.

Permission sought for closure of 11 more tanneries

Kanpur: The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board has sought permission from the State Government for the closure of 11 tanneries in the city.

According to the Board, despite repeated warnings, these tanneries have failed to install primary treatment plants in their units and have continued to discharge polluted water in the Ganga.
