The ministry of environment and forests, for the first time has chalked out comprehensive effluent standard norms for the rubber industry across all product categories. According to official sources this measure will check the pollution problem arising from rubber parks coming up in the country.

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh government, on Saturday, approved the closure of 5 out of 21 blacklisted tanneries that have been polluting the Ganga in the state.

Closure notices, UP Pollution Control Board officials confirmed, were served to the errant tanneries after informing them about the need to set up primary treatment plants (PTPs) at their set-ups.
