Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Doaba Paryavaran Samiti Vs. State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 06/06/2017 regarding groundwater pollution in six districts of western Uttar Pradesh. NGT directs CGWA to study the cause of groundwater contamination to know as to whether the contamination of water is due to geogenic or manmade reasons. NGT grants four weeks time to CGWA for conducting the study and submit its report before the Tribunal.

Judgement of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Ashutosh Kumar Sharma Vs State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 26/05/2017 regarding laying of storm water/sewer pipeline in Ward No. 6 for village Shobhapur, Rohata Road, Police Station Kankar Kheda, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. It is the case of the Applicant Ashutosh Kumar Sharma that the said drain is just above the drinking water pipeline of the applicant which possibly will result in contamination of the drinking water supply in the entire village consisting of about 20,000 residents.

Judgement of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Kirti Vardhan Singh Vs State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 16/05/2017 illegal and unauthorised mining particularly, mechanical mining being carried on in village Kalyanpur, Pargana Nawabganj, Tehsil Tarabganj, District Gonda. From the status reports and affidavits that have been filed NGT notes that it is evident that illegal mining of minor minerals has been carried on mechanically and also through suction pumps put into the water body quite near to the railway track.

Judgement of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Shailesh Singh Vs State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 27/04/2017 regarding distilleries causing pollution to water bodies by extracting groundwater and simultaneously discharging large quantity of effluent/waste water without treatment into river Ganga through river Rapti and Ghaghra, Uttar Pradesh.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of All India Kaimur People’s Front Vs. The State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 20/04/2017 regarding illegal mining within 1 Km from Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary situated in Village-Billin Markundi, Sonebhadra District, Uttar Pradesh. In response to an application under RTI Act, information has been given that there are 118 illegal mining operation in the area in question.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Samajik Parivartan Sewa Samiti Vs. State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 20/04/2017 regarding municipal solid waste management in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. With regard to implementation of MSW Rules, 2016 in the Ghaziabad Area, the Commissioner of Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam submits that it was resolved that the Ghaziabad Development Authority will identify suitable land in one patch sufficient for establishment of MSW management plant.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Sanjay Kumar Vs. State of U.P. & Ors dated 11/04/2017 regarding hotmixer plants in Noida and Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

Applicants have requested that the hotmixer plants run by them which are presently lying closed, may be inspected by the concerned Authority. NGT directs that joint inspection be conducted by Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, Central Pollution Control Board and representative of MoEF.

Choice of food and trade in foodstuff were part of right to life said Allahabad high court and ordered UP government to draw up a plan in 10 days so that the crackdown on illegal abattoirs and meat shops didn’t deprive people of their livelihood or food.
