The NGT observed that there was demand for more and more exclusion by those who claim the need for ‘development’ while need for ‘environment protection’ does not allow acceptance of such demands. Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of M. Sivakumar Vs State of Tamil Nadu. The District Magistrate, Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu has informed the NGT that appropriate remedial action has been taken against illegal farming of carnivorous African catfish in the district. The farming of African catfish is banned under the Biological Diversity Act, 2020. The said farming involves feeding of chicken waste, egg waste etc. causing foul smell and water pollution.

Accordingly, the NGT disposed of the case.
