Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Tribunal on its own motion Vs State of Himachal Pradesh & Others dated 10/10/2019 regarding pollution of river Ashwani Khud in Himachal Pradesh. The river was found to be full of plastic. There was accumulation of solid waste in the drains joining the river. The Tribunal in its previous order had called for regular removal and cleaning and installation of trap nets on major rivulets and drains connected to Ashwani Khud.

It is reported that 25%-30% contribution to the air pollution in the NCR is caused by burning of crops in the States of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

The Court's attention was drawn to the order dated 15/02/2000 passed by the Supreme Court which required landfills sites to be identified within a period of three weeks. However, the needful has not been done even after the passage of 17 years. Notice is issued to DDA for identification of landfill sites and handing over its possession.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Vikrant Kumar Tongad Vs. Environment Pollution (Prevention Control) Authority & Others dated 16/11/2017 regarding air pollution due to burning of agricultural residues. NGT directs NTPC to file complete details of its total demand of coal and how much agricultural residue either in the form of pellet or otherwise it can use, if not purely at least mixed with coal, in all the coal based Thermal Power Houses in the States of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Varun Sheokand Vs. State of Haryana & Others dated 11/10/2017 regarding dumping of fly ash from thermal power plant, Faridabad. It is stated by the Counsel appearing for the Project Proponent, National Highways Authority of India that they are lifting the fly ash from the dumping site and are utilizing it for different purposes. It is further stated that the site shortly would be cleared in its entirety and would be filled in accordance with the prescribed rules.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Almitra H. Patel & Anr. Vs. Union of India & Others dated 22/09/2017 regarding waste dumping at the Ghazipur landfill site in Delhi. Tribunal directs NCT Delhi, East Delhi Municipal Corporation to place before the Tribunal, a Report and Action Plan in regard to the manner and methodology that would be done by them for the purpose of dealing with segregation, compaction and disposal of the deposited waste of the Ghazipur land fill site as well as the fresh waste of nearly 800 MT that is being brought to this site everyday.
