The Multi-track Water Diplomacy Framework specifies and tests a conceptual and analytical water diplomacy framework that identifies the key factors that affect water cooperation.

Water diplomacy will play an increasingly important role in preventing, mitigating and resolving a growing number of water-related conflicts around the world. However, the theory and practice of cooperation over shared waters and the implementation of multi-track water diplomacy are not sufficiently developed.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Interlinking of Rivers, 21/11/2016. Under the National Perspective Plan for water resources development through inter basin transfer of water prepared by the this Ministry, National Water Development Agency (NWDA) has identified 30 links (16 under Peninsular Component & 14 under Himalayan Component) for preparation of Feasibility Reports. The pre-feasibility report of the all 30 links have been prepared and circulated to the concerned State Govts. by the NWDA.

Invalidates Punjab Termination of Agreements Act 2004, rules state has to comply with judgments on completion of SYL canal

Judgement of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of the Punjab Termination of Agreement Act 2004 regarding sharing of Ravi-Beas river waters dated 10/11/2016.

Supreme Court in its Order said the Agreement (dated 31st December, 1981 about sharing of waters of Ravi and Beas rivers) "could not have been unilaterally terminated by one of the parties and if any party or any State does so such unilateral action of a particular State has to be declared contrary to the Constitution of India as well as the provisions of the Inter State Water Disputes Act, 1956. "
