Report filed on behalf of the state of Kerala before the National Green Tribunal, Principal Bench in Original Application No. 502/2022 filed by Padmakumar.

Padmakumar, a resident of Kollam district had sent an application to the NGT alleging that Kerala Minerals and Metals, a chemical industry in Kerala is polluting the land and water bodies of nearby villages for about 30 years by discharging acid water.

The Municipal Commissioners of Kolhapur and Ichalkaranji was directed by the National Green Tribunal, March 1 to file reports on the progress achieved in bridging the gap in sewage treatment not only by the KMC and IMC but also by villages and councils.

Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General appearing for the state of Karnataka submitted that on principle, the state government is also interested in adopting all restoration measures noticed by the NGT in reference to the damage caused to the Chandrapura lake.

Dumping of marble and granite waste in the storm water drain of Mohi village, district Rajasmand.

The NGT, February 22 called for a report on the complaint received from a number of villagers of Mohi village, tehsil and district Rajasmand, Rajasthan. The allegation was that some of the marble and granite units in the area are dumping marble and granite sludge/slurry and other waste in the storm water drain obstructing its flow.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board Vs B Prathap Reddy & Others dated 21/02/2023. Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has deposited Rs.10,00,00,000 (rupees ten crores) on December, 12, 2022. Rs. 5,00,00,000 (rupees five crores) will be deposited on or before March 31, 2023.

The matter related to pollution of Sidhwan Canal passing through Ludhiana and encroachment by its side.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Amit Kumar Mittal Vs State of Punjab dated 20/02/2023.

The grievance was that there was illegal dumping of fly ash in open space and near pond by M/s Sukhbir Agro Energy Limited, village Sedha Singh Wala, tehsil Jaitu, district Faridkot, Punjab who is making electricity by burning stubble in violation of environmental norms and causing air and water pollution resulting in nuisance to people at large as well as causing damage to the environment and drinking water of the canal.

The matter related to pollution of river Yamuna.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Behari Lal Chaturvedi Vs Ministry of Jal Shakti & Others dated 16/02/2023.

Grievance in the application is against encroachment of Yamuna floodplain by Yamuna Mission, Mathura. It was stated that "though ostensibly it is acting to preserve and clean river Yamuna and also undertaking plantation drive, in the garb of such activities, Yamuna floodplain is being encroached".
